As a mum I have always struggled to find holiday clubs with a difference, my daughter had either done them several times before, it was focused on one thing all day or she just got lost in a large group. School holidays came around I would have to work and once again the mum guilt would kick in.
There is so much out there for children’s physical wellbeing which is fantastic but not so much for their social and emotional wellbeing and when I did find resources on emotional wellbeing I found it difficult to be consistent with this or find the time to really learn how to integrate such techniques effortlessly into our daily life. To grow up with positive mental health habits isn’t something we can teach children in the same way that we teach adults. The activities have to be fun. This is why at our holiday clubs we entwine strategies for emotional and behavioural development into fun and thought provoking games & exercises.
So we sat down and started to pull together all of our experiences and learnings in positive psychology & best practice in early child development and more importantly the views of a very opinionated 6 year old and ended up with… Our Wellbeing school holiday experiences.
The weeks are bursting with fun activities to keep the children entertained and all our programmes are built around the five P's.
People – Purpose – Play – Passions – Present Thinking.
Each session focuses on a different developmental theme including communication, trusting instincts, resilience, confidence, imagination, empathy and self-awareness.
All the activities and concepts are backed by science but of course they don’t need to know this. They just need to turn up and have fun!
Our October Discovery themed week will be held at the fantastic education hub, Intuition Pursue Your Purpose in Burnham.
I came across this wonderful place when I took my daughter there for art classes this summer, which were a much needed social outlet following lock down. I was so impressed with their inspirational environment and their home from home approach which children need with all the new school changes this year.
I then got talking to the founders Intuition PYP and was so excited to share our beliefs that every child learns differently and every child should celebrate their unique way of being, that we decided to collaborate and bring this October half term club (with an exclusive 11 places) to some of the super heros of 2020 – Your Children.
